The Reality for Visually Impaired Students in Cameroon

OVER 85%

of visually impaired students in Cameroon lack access to the digital tools and accessible materials necessary for their education.

This creates a significant barrier to their academic and professional success, preventing them from reaching their full potential.

How We Bridge the Gap

We are working to change the reality for visually impaired students in Cameroon by providing comprehensive support and resources.

Accessible Educational Materials

We convert textbooks into Braille and audio, giving students the freedom to learn and study on their own terms.

Digital Skills Training

Our hands-on workshops empower students with the essential assistive technology skills they need to succeed in a digital world.

Advocacy and Awareness

We work with schools and communities to build an inclusive environment where every visually impaired student is given the opportunity to thrive.

Advancing Inclusive Education Through Needs Assessment

As part of our 2026 mission to promote inclusive education and support visually impaired learners, a team of specialists carried out a needs assessment visit at St. Joseph Inclusive Comprehensive High School (SJICHS), Bafut, on 18th February 2026. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the educational needs of visually impaired students and identify the most effective ways to support their learning journey through the provision of books, Braille materials, and audio learning resources. This activity marks an important step toward creating a more accessible and empowering learning environment for students with visual impairments, ensuring that every learner has equal opportunities to succeed academically and socially.

Empowering Future Teachers on Inclusive Teaching Practices

As part of our 2026 mission to promote inclusive education, a training seminar was organized at the University of Bamenda on 17th March 2026 for student teachers, with a focus on inclusive teaching practices. The seminar aimed at equipping future educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to effectively support learners with visual impairments and other special educational needs within the classroom environment. During the session, over 25 student teachers were successfully trained and empowered on the importance of inclusive education, adaptive teaching methods, and creating learning spaces where every student has the opportunity to succeed. This initiative represents another significant step toward building a more inclusive and accessible educational system for all learners.

A Message from Our Founder

Bridging the Educational Gap for Visually Impaired Students

I’m Bertrand Bafon. Inspired by Barbara Johnson’s mentorship, I founded this center to give visually impaired students the learning tools I wish I had in school — Braille books, audio lessons, and digital skills training. Together, we can make education accessible for every child.
